‘Tis The Season!

I don’t know about you but Christmas, besides Halloween, is my favorite time of the year. The idea of making your house festive and cozy with wonderful scents of pine and cinnamon not to mention all the baking is so wonderful. For me sitting in my living room looking at the lights and the tree make me feel so warm and cozy.

One of the things that I most enjoy is going to pick out the tree. We usually get a couple of boughs and sprigs of holly and mistletoe while we are at it. So this year we thought it would be fun to head out of town to pick everything up at at Christmas Tree Farm.

I love getting real trees versus a fake one. For one thing they are a renewable, recyclable source. We use ours for mulch in our yard or use it for our chiminea on cold nights when the season is over. Also, the smell of them in your house is so amazing.

When we arrived it was a beautiful winter day and the air was crisp. Look at the view over the town!

The trees were golden everywhere!

On the farm the trees seemed to go on forever in all sorts of sizes. The bigger ones where in the very back at the end. Personally I would want a tree for every room in my house but my husband says that’s nuts and he isn’t going to be carrying and putting up trees all day. Sigh.

We grabbed some boughs and went looking through the fields for our perfect (1) tree.

I kept thinking we needed to keep going further. One more hill!

Our pup loved the trees and I have a feeling her little mind was blown by the endless possibilities for her. “Mom I can pee FOREVER!!!”

Once we found our tree they took care of trimming the trunk even and shaking it out.

Before we left we grabbed some wreaths too!

I mean look at this itty bitty tree! Gah! Wouldn’t it be perfect in the kitchen?!?!

Overall I had so much fun seeing everything and really didn’t want to leave!

After our selection we headed home to deck the halls.

I love putting boughs on our porch railing and decorating it with various holly. Poinsettias are also great for a pop of joyous color.

My husband made this for us! Maybe I can convince him to do a whole nativity scene but with cats.

For the inside of our house all of our decorations have been a combination of years either from friends or travel.

Our Christmas tree is a perfect example of this.

If I had it my way I would decorate all over the place but husband would murder me.

I hope you have an amazing holiday season full of love and light!

Merry Christmas!

Wow honey this is a wonderful story. This adventure is going to be one that you and Steven are going to remember forever. Your casita looks amazing and festive! (Ever thought about going into writing?) May God’s blessings be with you, Steven, and the “kids” always. Love, Pops
